At the verge of twenty first century when the low class avarna tribes are unitedly struggling to release themselves from the tentacles of savarna over lordship and when the fascist communalists are enthusiastically attempting to annihilate Islam from India, we find village after village embrace Islam enmasse in order to breathe the air of Independence and manhood. If this is the pathetic condition today, we can imagine the situation in Kerala Fourteen centuries ago. Yes it was as Swami Vivekanada rightly described a madhouse. No wiseman now believe that Islam was spread by sword. Yet the westerners and Indian communalists are still trumpeting wild and fabricated stories and repeating the old myth. 

The history of Kerala itself will explode this false propaganda. In propagating Islam in Kerala Malik Bin Deenar and his followers were armed with the weapons of Islamic philosophy viz fraternity and equality of mankind. The Kerala public was captivated by the beautiful culture and civilization of Islam, and spontaneously  embraced the new faith. The local chieftains and leaders freely offered land for the construction of mosque and houses for these foreigners. Islam thus spred here and Muslims muliplied. With the help and co=operation of non-muslims, the muslims in Kerala became a sizable society living in peace, honour and respect. Islam is not the culture of a particular sect or land, it is intended for the whole world and for all time. It is a revelation from god for all mankind. The situation today is quite different. Muslims in India as well as any other country in the world are facing threats of examination. Why is this? This paradox is engaging the attention of the thinkers. They are trying ways and means to eliminate this sad plight. There is no Indication of improvement yet. Some are of opinion that the reason for the downfall of the muslim is the fact that the muslim scholars and leaders have renounced Islam outright. In fact Islam stands unscathed, But muslims have lost their glory to their failure to follow Islamic tenets in their full spirit. It is a paradox that great thinkers and wisemen come forward to embrace Islam at a time when all forces in the world have turned anti-islamic and directed their attention to annihilate Islam. If muslims want to regain their pristime glory it is incumbent that they should imbibe Islam whole-heartedly and live accordingly. Khalifa Ummer (R) rightly said “ we earned eminence through Islam; we cannot regain it expect through Islam”. This wise proclamation rightly raises a question before us viz are we prepared to become true muslims? Are we prepared to come back to Islam as quickly as possible? If so we can recoup our lost strength, otherwise we are bound to perish. God says “God will not change the conditions of a community unless the community changes its conditions itself” (HQ). If we sincerely desire to recover our lost pre-eminence, certainly we must get ready for a through change in our way of life.       more >>>
